Bento Lunches
Bento for 2 year old child

My 2 year old son goes to preschool in Japan, so every workday I cook bento for him . Here is one of them.

Meatballs, mashed potatoes with cheese, pea pods, crab meat sticks with cheese, yellow mango, carrots.


To cook it I've used:

This looks fun - I like the carrot shapes!

What is the round green thing (to the right of the mango) in your ingredients photo, please? It looks like a yo-yo but I guess it is not!

:) This is one of traditional Japanese sweets, like a cake with green tea (that is why it is green). I put it to one more small bento-box in addition to this lunch.

Ah, thank you! That is why I can't find it in your bento lunch photo! The cake looks very nice. Is it like a imagawayaki perhaps? You are making me feel hungry!

:) Yes, it is something like imagawayaki. A colleague of my husband brought this "omiyage" for us from another prefecture.
