Audrey - mask

Atlanta-area peeps!

I wanted to let anyone in the Atlanta area in Georgia (and I know there are a bunch of us) know that the Super H-Mart in Duluth currently has a bunch of little character-themed plastic bento boxes for about $4. I saw one in particular that was some sort of penguin character. It came with two tiers and a band. Plus Ramune is on sale this week (I think? maybe longer?) for 99 cents and they had a TON of flavors. (I got pineapple - I had no idea it came in so many varieties.)

I also bought just a few boxes of cookies:

Also I just wrote an article about saving money by packing bento boxes - I'd love if you all would check it out and comment. FULL DISCLOSURE: I get paid for page views (it's on but I do NOT randomly spam my articles, I'm just particularly pleased with this one and wanted to share it.

And I will be writing a different article for a local (new) funky parenting magazine called Ruckus about packing bento boxes for your kids - if you're Atlanta-area-based and you make bento lunches FOR YOUR KIDS and you'd be interested in being interviewed, please leave a comment and I'll add you to my list. I can't promise I'll interview everyone but you never know...! :)

Thanks and see ya Wednesday with another bento! :)

Beef Stroganoff and Fruit Salad

Beef Stroganoff and Fruit Salad

mike box contains beef stroganoff. rocky box contains fruit salad and a chocolate dipped strawberry.

kind of a boring bento, though it will be tasty.
it kind of irks me that you can see the box on the smaller box, but I didn't feel like eating a whole box's worth of fruit.

and mom's feeling well enough from her surgery to cook us food :) hooray!
though she still has 5 or so weeks off from work.

I bought these boxes in tokyo disneyland when I went last summer. there's also a sulley box that's purple.

Simple bento for two

Here's a bento picture I forgot to post! It dates back from June! XD

For two: some chicken/vegetables stir-fry with rice and octodogs.
All leftovers, so practical!
The drawings on rice are just ketchup (heart for my boyfriend, Mickey "logo" for me... because the BF's name is Mick. :D)

Bento # 619

Mostly leftovers once more. But will you LOOK at those Baby Kiwi? I've never seen those before but they had them when I was shopping in Friday. They're no bigger than grapes, and not furry, but other than that, they're simply micro kiwis. Aren't they ADORABLE?!

Bento # 619
Bento # 619
Italian style meatballs. Broccoli. Baby kiwi. Cherry tomato. Heart-shaped egg. Noodles with tomato sauce, decorated with a meatloaf-and-cheese lion.

Here's the lunch I made for my boyfriend and myself tomorrow

Top left: 2 containers of stuff that looks awful. No really it's Brushetta Chicken (which oddly doesn't have brushetta in it) looks gross but it's so amazingly delicious that I can put up with it.
Recipe from

Bottom left: Strawberries, apple bottles filled with salad dressing and peanut butter bites.
Top Right: Ritz mini cheese sandwichs
Bottom Right: Salad with 2 baby bel cheeses

Hiyashi Chuka Bento

Tomorrow's bento is mostly Hiyashi Chuka.  At least that's apparently what it's called, I used to eat it all the time only I just used to pick up a box of it in the conbini without reading the label.  I saw a recipe for it online and remembered how much I liked it an how simple it looked to prepare, perfect bento food!  The rest is a babybel on top of a jar of dressing, carrot and cucumber slices on picks, a mango pudding hiding under the edamame and Terry's Chocolate Orange segments dotted around in there too.
