Last day bento!

Hey all :)
Been a while since I had either no time for making bento's due to looooong days at school myself.
But now I have vacation and my bf has his last day today, so bento-time!

Last-day-bento/Leftover-bento :

Top: 3x riceballs with nori faces on a bed of iceberg lettuce. Bits of teryaki chicken, sesame seeds, grilled veggies (paprika/mushroom/leek) and some picks + a bottle of light soy.
Lower: Apples (which where still not brown this morning <3) and salad with chicken/paprika/sunflower seeds/sesam seeds/spring onion. And some garlic dressing in the monkey.

Feels good to make bento's again, next ones will probably serve daytrips \(^.^)/

Bento #003 and #004

Left: Coldcut canape on a bed of scrap coldcuts, Cucumber flowers with bits of olive and red pepper.

I recently found my canape makers and I've been wanting to do something with them ever since. Yesterday was perfect because I had a bunch of leftover coldcuts from dinner the night before. I used my large clover shaped maker for this one, but I might experiment with the minis next time. I was woefully out of just about everything yesterday for a side dish, but the granola ended up being tasty.

Top: Pork gyoza (from Trader Joe's), Edamame
Bottom: Rice with pepperoni/cheese flowers

Today's lunch of gyoza leftovers (the ones from Trader Joe's are delicious) and some edamame. I was able to make some rice for this morning and decorated it with some coldcut flowers embellished with edamame for leafs and parsley for stems.

Airport-friendly bento?

I'm going to be at the airport later this week, and was wondering if any of you folks have attempted bringing bentos through security. Is there anything I should definitely not pack (aside from more than 3 oz. of liquid), or that would be especially good? Or would you just leave the bento at home?

Bento 10

I finally got up enough nerve to try sushi rolls and so I got a pack with all the stuff [sans veggies and bamboo roller] and they didn't come out perfect but I think it turned out pretty good.

I'm back! Did ya miss me? ;)

I have been sick - caught something at the AnimeNext convention. It started with a tickle in my throat on Sunday at the end of the convention and by Monday I had the sore throat and my ears hurt - then the chest congestion, then the sinuses, then Saturday I woke up with my eyes sealed shut and gooey (yuck!). That was enough to finally send my butt to the Dr.

I am slowly improving on the antibiotics and am trying to get back into the swing of things - in the meantime, I have two bento for Rob and one Kat packed the week of the convention that I didn't get a chance to post with all the preparations....

Top Tier: Pitted cherries, snow peas, baby carrot sticks, blueberries, macaroni salad w/ carrot and green onion flowers and black sesame seed 'ground'

Bottom Tier: Mixed Spring Greens w/ grape tomatoes, radish slices and carrot flowers, car shaped boiled egg and asian fruit jelly

Bento # 584

So, tonight was the Danish Midsummer celebration where we gathered with our neighbours to have a BBQ-party and later on burn a witch in effigy. I had a lot of fun making balloon animals for all the kids there (although some of the balloons had a very short life *L*) and just generally having a good time. The weather was wonderful and.. I had leftovers from the BBQ for the bento:

Grilled sausage in slices, decorated with cucumber peel heads. Azuki- & chick pea sprouts. Mini corn cob. Strawberry. Beef patty in slices, with cucumber stars. Wheel-pasta on top of some tomato sauce, decorated with a tomato/melissa rose and more mini corncob slices.
