Bento #126, 127, 128

Well I had a snack bento on Friday that I forgot to post, and then the other two are my lunch and dinner for the day since I work from 1:30-close (midnight) today and I go there straight from school. The snack bento wasn't that exciting though so I chose to put it under the cut. :]
#127 - Lunch

broccoli, tomato, egg, brown rice
There is some low-fat greek yogurt on the side.

Bento 09#5- Green challenge

This is not as cool as I would have liked, but I am moving soon and am trying to use everything in the house instead of going to the store all the time.

Left big box: Pesto made greener with a few drops of food coloring. Logically should have been done while cooking, but I didn't think about it until I had already drained it. Green kiwi container filled with parmesan cheese.
Top tier: kiwi fans, cucumber flowers, a bed of peas with broccoli, and skewers of lima beans
Bottom tier: Salad with cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and a skewer of carrots. A green giraffe pick included, but got cut out of the picture.
Also included is a green, Ohio granny smith apple. (Red apples are mushy and gross and I cannot eat them, yuck.)

I don't know if I like all of that green, but it does make the red and orange pop out a lot. The grape tomatoes look like jewels. Yum.

My husband's lunch today. He has told me that he doesn't care if I make him CUTE lunches, as long as he has food, then he's fine. That last Xbox 360 bento was way too manly, so I decided to cutify things up lol :)

Can you figure out the "hidden" message? haha. I originally made this for Bento Challenge yesterday, but when I came back to post...the dog challenge was already over! Oops. I am such a procrastinator! -_-"

Anyways, I hope you guys like it!
Go here for a description of everything I used for this bento.

Spicy Peanut Chicken & Fruit Salad in new Maneki Neko box

My personal bento blog at cgpbento is going to take a while to catch up, since I got so backlogged with gear finds and lunches to post, and have so far been failing at my goal to post every other day or so.. So, I figured I'd take a break to pop in at the communities with my first lunch packed in one of my new boxes. >^_^<

I bought this Maneki Neko (Japanese lucky cat) box from on ebay, since I stumbled across it and could not resist. -- I used to look for cat bento boxes, but always had a hard time finding any designs I thought looked good. -- Yay new box! >^_^<

In this lunch I have spicy peanut sauce chicken bites, packed with iceberg lettuce for presentation and extra veggies (tough to find iceberg lettuce with enough color, but it's what I've been in the mood for). The lower tier has a pink heart cup of broccoli with a tiger pick, a little fruit salad of frozen blueberries and strawberries mixed with fresh grapes, and a fish cup with butter for the broccoli.

I have a second photo behind the cut, showing the box packed up in my Chococat lunch bag where you can see the adorable Maneki Neko some more. It's packed with a plastic Hostess Cupcake cup full of cherry cordial Hershey kisses, and a fork in a shortened toothbrush holder. >^_^<

Tea? asks Bill Haydon

First bento

I made my first bento on Saturday for my boyfriend to take with him on the train back home. It was his birthday as well, so I thought it would be a nice surprise for him. I also couldn't find any Japanese-esque lunch box, so I had to make do with normal tupperware. (Paperchase only did kids' size boxes. They were very cute but I reckon my now 20-year old boyfriend wouldn't want to be seen with it hahahaha)

Not the most creative of bentos....

Top left container: broccolis (not enough space to fit more), steak cut in chunks (marinated in christmas wine, dark soy sauce, and it cost me a fiver from the butchers!)
Top right container: home-made Japanese style potato salad, cherry tomatoes
Bottom container: rice with seasame seeds sprinkled on top

Green bento?

Tomorrow is my veggie day, so that's how I'll be green for St. Patrick's Day!
From Bentos

Tupperware Rock N Serve: Hardboiled egg, mini tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, rice w/ stir fry veg mix, beans and pineapple (don't knock til you've tried it! When I was younger, my mom used to put pineapple in my franks and beans and I still love it! Since it's veggie day, no franks...just beans and pineapple), banana, vegan dill salad (store-bought), mini tomatoes, almond butter on baguette and rest of banana.

Besides the almond butter and banana sandwich for breakfast, I'm not quite sure in what order I am going to eat all of this. I guess I'll see where the day takes me. This is actually A LOT of food, so some of this may spill over into Wednesday's lunch.
