Bento Lunches
Kenny! Kenny!

Yeah, I know, it's just sandwiches and some stuff. But it's got Kenpachi on top, so it has to be cool, right?

Kenpachi (provolone, ham and nori) over a turkey/ham/cheddar/mustard/mayo sandwich and a pb&j with grape jelly. Also: peach, Morningstar cheddar broccoli bite thing, Japanese flower candy, and a strawberry cupcake on top of some sour cream for my only veggie.

I'm slowly learning some tricks to making these character cutouts...

But now I hear Alton, so I must run for the tv. Good Night!

Oh, please share your tricks! I've never attempted a character cut out but I've been wanting to.

I think it's mostly about planning, and learning how to work with the food. I just trace a picture on tracing paper, then draw the separate parts (what will be meat/cheese/nori etc.) on more tracing paper--in pen, because graphite comes off!, lay those on the food and start cutting. I use a base layer of cheese because it provides some stability when I move the final thing. Cheese is easier to cut than meats, and nori tends to shrink some when it gets wet. Little things like that. Experiment with it some, because this is definitely one of those things you learn as you go.

I still have to learn to keep my hands from accidentally moving the little tiny pieces. :(

I think now I'm going to dedicate my tweezers to my bento kit.

Well you definately do an amazing job! :) Thanks for the tips. I hadn't thought of using tracing paper but that's an excellent idea!
